Camp Friendship Basketball Program

We work with all students and we divide our groups up by experience, but we give plenty of room for experienced players to gain leadership ability by working with newer athletes.

We will provide all equipment. We ask only that players attend every session and arrive on time.

Week 1 – Baseline Assessment & Fundamentals
Quick skills check (dribble, shoot, pass)

Week 2 – Shooting Form
BEEF (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, Follow-through). Beginners: form shooting close to hoop. Advanced: form shooting + catch-and-shoot at game speed.

Week 3 – Dribbling Control

Beginners: stationary dribble series (high/low, crossover). Advanced: dribble moves with a defender added.

Week 4 – Layups
Beginners: basic layup footwork (1-2 step, both hands). Advanced: reverse layups, finishing through contact.

Week 5 – Passing
Beginners: chest pass, bounce pass, stationary partner drills. Advanced: passing on the move, pivot passes.

Week 6 – Defense Basics
Beginners: stance, shuffle steps. Advanced: closeouts, deny passing lanes, 1-on-1 defense.

Week 7 – Combining Dribble + Shoot
Beginners: dribble to a spot, stop, shoot. Advanced: off-the-dribble pull-ups, step-backs.

Week 8 – Rebounding & Boxing Out
Beginners: box-out technique, grab and chin. Advanced: outlet passes, put-back finishes.

Week 9 – Screens & Off-Ball Movement
Beginners: cutting to open space. Advanced: setting/using screens, pick-and-roll basics.

Week 10 – Advanced Ball-Handling / Combo Moves
Beginners: two-move combos (crossover to layup). Advanced: three-move sequences vs. live defenders.

Week 11 – Shot Selection & Finishing
Beginners: choosing layup vs. short jumper based on spot. Advanced: floaters, contested finishes, reading the defense.

Weeks 12 and 13 – Team Concepts / Small-Sided Games
Beginners: 3-on-3 half court, spacing focus. Advanced: 5-on-5 half court, running a basic play.
